International Burn Week IBW – TAKTIK 2025
Short description
For several years, the Flash Formation team has acquired exceptional expertise on structural firefighting tactics with live fire in an acquired structure. Our team has been responsible for scientific, educational and demonstrations live fires as well. Team members have visited many departments, even several countries to improve this expertise.
In collaboration with the expertise of CFBT-NL, we proudly present TAKTIK 2025, a training week focused on live fire scenarios in an acquired structure, conducted in strict compliance with NFPA 1403 standards. This is an advanced-level CFBT training course.
Over a week of immersive training… A one-of-a-kind experience with leaders in firefighting tactics from Quebec and the Netherlands. The program includes hands-on training during the day and evenings dedicated to sharing knowledge and experiences with fireground operation enthusiasts. What is the Taktik project?
Flash Formation is proud to collaborate with the CFBT-NL organization to offer a unique opportunity to instructors from abroad. This collaboration
allows them to perfect their knowledge and skills through intensive sessions of real building fires. These sessions are specifically designed to delve deeper into varied topics such as firefighting tactics, understanding fire behaviors in different types of structures, and applying the latest technologies and techniques in fire safety.
The main topics of this training are:
– Smoke propagation
– Fire ventilation and operational tactics
– NFPA 1403 fire standards
– Concept of andragogy and application in practice
– Teaching tools: Bloom’s taxonomy
– Change management in the fire service
– The spread of fire in wooden structures
– Securing the different educational platforms during a firing exercise
– Fire operations in North America
Participants will have the opportunity to engage in actual building fires, allowing them to practice and hone their skills in dealing with various fire
scenarios. These practical sessions are designed to simulate complex modern fires and enable a rich exchange of know-how and experiences, strengthening
teams’ capabilities to use modern tactics.
Prior theoretical training:
Before any firing activity, detailed theoretical training will be provided. This session will cover the technical aspects that will be put into practice during the training, the procedures to follow, and the safety protocols, in order to prepare firefighters for the various scenarios they will encounter.
Strict compliance with safety standards:
All activities will meet the highest safety standards, including NFPA 1403. This standard governs safe practices for live training exercises, ensuring the safety of participants and the public. Flash Formation is proud to be part of the review committee for NFPA 1403, 2018 edition.
Post-exercise assessment and debriefing on video:
After each firing exercise, a debriefing session will be organized to evaluate the performance of the participants. In addition, the installation of video camera systems to capture images of each scenario allows feedback after the exercise in order to carry out an optimal debriefing.
Thematic workshops and conferences:
In addition to the firings, thematic workshops and conferences will be organized. These sessions will cover topics such as new firefighting tactics, technological innovations, emergency management, and crisis leadership. Use of responsible materials for practice lights For our burning exercises we use exclusively untreated pallet wood. This choice of material ensures that the emissions produced during practice fires are as clean as possible. In addition, our strict decontamination standards make it possible to limit the exposure of participants to fire contaminants as much as possible.
